Bianca Umali, Social Media and (World Peace?)

I don't know how to start this post na hindi masyadong serious so eto na lang ang ibubungad ko:

SORRY NA SA MGA KUMAKAIN. HAHA. Pag nakatingala selfie na lang talaga kasi ako payat eh. Hayaan nyo na. :p

It's nice na nauso mga #filter and #effects sa mga camera phone nowadays no? I remember dati ang hirap kumuha ng angulo for nice photos. Well, mahirap pa din naman ngayon but relatively easy. Kailangan lang na maabilidad ka ng konti - i.e, tingala selfie. LOL

While Social Media is one of the main reasons kaya naimbento ang mga ganyang chenes to enhance beauty and boost self confidence, there's no denying din na because din of Social Media kaya hindi natin makamtam ang world peace. Charot!

Anyway, have you seen Bianca Umali's brouhaha on FB? I get it if her name doesn't ring any bell to you dahil ngayon ko lang din nalaman name nya. She's this girl na gandang ganda akong tingnan sa TV (GMA) each time I pass through our living room. I rarely watch TV pero pag nakikita ko ang bagets nato, napapahinto talaga ako just to watch her.

Sa mga hindi pa nakakaalam ng chismis here's what happened: I'll show you first the screenshot of her photo (that launched a thousand angry netizens LOL) that she recently posted on her FB account.

She edited it na with "LESS or NONE" makeup pero the original post is about promoting self confidence even WITHOUT MAKEUP. She even encouraged her followers to post NO MAKEUP selfies and ended her post saying that the secret to being beautiful is actually a SMILE. Awww, such sweet baby girl. =)

May point naman sya diba? Kaso she's an artista. Bata. Sariwa. Maganda. Makinis. Matangos ang ilong.  I don't know how to explain this any further pero sana na-gets nyo ang point ko. =)

Ang medyo na-bother ako ng slight is how this post drew flaks from netizens. The post was meant to inspire women to be confident and feel beautiful with their own skin and natural looks. Anyare? Reading from the comments, wala syang magandang naidulot. There were hurtful words everywhere. Women terribly pitting themselves against each other. Nasaan ang world peace? Charot ulet!

Poor child. She's a public figure and she's barely 17. I wish people will stop being mean and ibalato na lang ito sa kanya as a life lesson. Sana she will be able to take even the meanest comments positively. You know naman how 'iba' na ang mga kabataan ngayon. Right?

I'm not sure if I'm going to read any updates on this case though dahil mahina ang mirror neurons ko when it comes to Social Media. My heart is sad for Bianca with all the bashing and hurtful words from people unknown to her pero sa edad ko ngayon at sa alindog kong taglay, most of the time I heavily rely on makeup, good camera, nice angles and photo filters to confidently post my selfies . I mean let's get real. Ang maganda ay maganda. Ang hindi masyadong maganda - umanggulo na lang sa selfie. HAHA.

Wishing us world peace,
