Caylee just told me na hindi na daw sya tumatabi sa mga boys, AT HINDI NA DIN DAW NYA CRUSH yung isang boy na panay ang lapit sa kanya.

Magfi five pa lang talaga sya next month eh! Waaaahhhhh!

I'm having second thoughts blogging about this dahil baka sumbatan ako ng bagets paglaki nya at mabasa ito. I mean, she's barely 5 pa lang talaga eh. Malay nya sa pagiging judge mental ko. HAHAHA

Pero dahil nga lukaret ako, kwento ko na rin (sorry anak). Nakakatuwa din naman. Hehe

A few weeks ago, nung panay ang ulan, we were allowed na ihatid at sunduin ang mga bata in front of their classroom sa PES. One time na napaaga ako nasilip ko 'tong isang little boy na panay ang lapit sa Cayleepot. He even helped her fixed her things bago lumabas ng classroom. 

I panicked. 

A LOT.

ME: Sino yung boy na yun anak?  Bakit sya naglagay ng mga gamit mo sa bag? Diba sabi ko ikaw dapat nag-aayos ng mga things mo?

CAYLEE:  Ma, sabi nya crush nya daw ako! (with an innocent glee in her face)

I panicked pa more.

ME: HA?! Ano sabi mo? Don't let him kiss and hug you ha. Baby pa kayo. Pang ate lang yun at saka tita and Mama. (Di na ako magkandaugaga sa pangunguna, HAHAHA!) 

To the rescue naman ang Papa Prinz.

PAPA PRINZ: Okay lang crush-crush anak. Ang ibig sabihin lang naman nun ay like ka nya. Pero Mama is right. No kissing and hugging in school

ME: Wag ka na kasi tumabi sa mga boys. Bukas hanapin mo si Abi (one of her girl classmates) tapos sa kanya ka tumabi ha.

Paulit-ulit kami nyan. Para akong nanay ko dati. Susme!

ME: Bakit kasi tumatabi ka sa mga boys anak? Dapat maghanap ka ng girl din, tapos sila gawin mong friends (luh, biglang naging sexist/feminist amp!)

CAYLEE: Okay, okay.

PAPA PRINZ: Mama ano ba yan? You're just making it complicated. Chill.

To be fair naman, parang alam ko na kung bakit sya tumatabi sa mga boys. Their table kasi is besides the TV that plays animated ABCs, etc. Ideal pwesto nga naman yun to watch pag TV time na.

And after a while, na realized ko din na ang OA ko pala. HAHA. Diba nga iba na ang mga bagets nowadays. Mas open na sila to act out what they think of certain situations. I know. I know. Ginamit ko sana yung opportunity to guide her and not dictate her initially. Serehnemen.

I reminded myself to take it easy next time para hindi maalangan mag-open up sa akin ang anak ko. I don't want her to hesitate on telling me (or her Papa) about anything and everything. So far, it seems like Prinz and I naman are doing the right thing on raising Caylee. 

Well, sana...

Yey, Friday na! =)

We survived the first week of school and so far, mukang nag-eenjoy naman ang Cayleepot. Actually, feel na feel nya talaga etong new chapter nato in her life. Natuwa pa nga sya nung sinabi ko na hindi pwedeng pumasok ang mga mama sa school/room. Hanggang gate lang kami sa paghatid at sundo.

Akala ko mag-iinarte. Ako pala yung magkaka sepanx ng very very slight. HAHA

Kasi naman, minsan hindi pa rin talaga ako makapaniwala na kinder na sya. Parang kelan lang kasi iyak-dede-pupu pa lang ang alam nya sa buhay eh. Parang kelan lang din, ako yung hinahatid ng Papa ko sa school nung kinder ako. Waaahhh, ganito pala yung feeling. OA ko ba? Hehe

Anyway, a lot of people are asking me kung bakit daw hindi namin ipinasok sa private school si Caylee. Syempre naman inisip na din namin yun. Lalo na ako. Even months before mag-end ang daycare, I've been scouting na for a decent school to enroll her. Definitely we CANNOT AFFORD to send her to huge ones like Saint Scholastica Marikina or ISYC (these are my top choices sana). Most of the schools naman that we can afford kahit papaano, are either masyado nang malayo from our house or so-so lang ang facilities/ambiance. Yung iba we heard naman a lot of complaints, because apparently hindi accredited ng DepEd so walang LRN (Learner Reference Number) na maibigay sa mga students. It is very important pala to have that reference number when it comes to education.

The LRN is a permanent 12-digit number the pupil shall keep while completing the basic education program, regardless of transfer to another school – whether public or private, including the student’s promotion to secondary level. Each student will have an LRN that will be indicated in the pupil’s permanent record, report card, examinations, certificate or diploma and other documents.

PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE AUTOMATICALLY RECOGNIZED BY DEPED

We have a recommendation sana from her Daycare teacher, Sister Glenda Monroy para makapasok sya sa Mother of Devine via scholarship. But aside from the fact na may kalayuan din ang location, we chose not to avail it due to personal and religious reasons. In addition, my husband is a very practical person. Mas gusto daw nya paghandaan ang college ni Caylee more than anything else. Syempre as a wife, I have to trust my husband's decisions lalo na if may financial matters involved. Besides as a private high school scholar myself, alam ko how the family struggle to pay for other things needed in school. Andyan pa yung feeling na out of place ka because you don't have extra money to join extra curricular activities or school clubs, etc. It can be very depressing sa bata if may potential sya at may gusto talagang syang gawin apart from academics.

In fairness naman sa Parang (Marikina) Elementary School where I enrolled Caylee, mostly positive reviews ang naririnig ko about them. They have won multiple awards in the previous years (in both academics and cleanliness) so good choice na rin sya for us.

Her teacher, Mrs. Gay Nadura seems nice din. Nag research ako na kaunti and found out na part sya ng school management last year (not sure now), under Accountability And Continuous Improvement department. O diba, bongga ni mam nya. =)

I also like her seems to be 'no-homework policy'. As much as possible kasi gusto ko pagkauwi ng anak ko from school, wala na syang ibang iisipin kundi mag-rest, kumain and maglaro. Of course, I teach her a bit before going to bed, pero more of just to establish study habits lang din. 

Or in this case, to remind her na wag ma confuse sa 'b' at 'd'. Baligtad eh!

At isulat ng tama ang pangalan nya na kasinghaba ng traffic sa EDSA. Haha!

I'm happy and proud that she did well on most of her worksheet though. 

Sabi ko kay Prinz, paghandaan na lang namin na maisali sya sa mga extracurricular activities or after-school programs ng school to help her explore other interests and broader perspectives.

I posted this on my FB as one way to remember Caylee's first day at daycare center. 

I was hesitant nung una kasi feeling ko mabo-bore lang sya and will eventually goes berserk about going to school everyday. I know! Na-underestimate ko ang bagets, #sorrynaman. Hehe

Binilhan namin sya ng bike as a gift. 

Alam ko kasi how hard for her age ang mga pinag-daanan nya kay sister Glenda (her teacher). Not complaining though dahil I know din how advanced na talaga ang education natin nowadays. Nakakatuwa lang for me as her mother na hindi sya nagrereklamo about going to school everyday. Yes, even nung nawindang ng husto ang body clock nya nung nilipat sila from afternoon classes to  8am schedule. Pati nung ang Ate Abby (her cousin) na nya ang naghahatid sundo sa kanya sa school. And not to mention yung mga times (which is a lot) na I had to wake her up at 6am because may mga extra curricular activities sila sa school. 

Her conditions were simple: I have to carry her and make lambing every gising. Ako magpapakain at magpapaligo and I have to hug and kiss her while sending her away. Paka-sweet na bata! Sana palagi syang ganyan. =)

Anyway, she got a total of 6 medals. Mostly special awards. I think most of her classmates got the same number of awards. Wala silang honor chenes. In my honest opinion, I find it more appropriate for preschoolers. More than academics, personality and character development muna dapat. 

I'm mentioning this here on the blog now because na-shookt ako ng slight on how popular the single photo (within a post) of Caylee wearing all her medals on my Facebook. I didn't mention anything about the awards. Paano ko ngayon sasabihin na dahil halos lahat naman binigyan ni teacher ng same number of awards, parang "for fun" purposes na lang yung medals? Lels.

Syempre no doubts, magaling talaga yung anak ko (tatay nya si Prinz eh, haha) at proud ako sa mga nakuha nyang awards. Di bale kung may misconception mang naganap, eto na dito na sa blog ako ako nagpaliwanag. :p

Anyway, KINDER, my bebe is soooooo ready for you. Big school, let's meet next school year. :)
